The inflow-outflow graphic above helps us understand how many people are actively experiencing homelessness in our region and how many are entering and exiting homelessness.
An end to homelessness means:
We have very few people experiencing homelessness at any given time.
We have more people exiting homelessness each month than we have entering.
People are able to leave homelessness and enter permanent housing within short periods of time.
Understanding INFLOW:
Inflow means the amount of people who are entering homelessness each month.
Newly Identified means people who are new to homelessness and who have not experienced homelessness in the past 2 years.
Returning means people who are returning to homelessness after having been housed in the past 2 years.
Understanding ACTIVELY HOMELESS:
Actively Homeless means how many people are currently experiencing homelessness in the 5 county region. These people are either staying in temporary emergency shelter or are staying in tents, vehicles or other places not meant for humans to reside.
Understanding OUTFLOW:
Outflow means the amount of people who are exiting homelessness each month.
Housing Placement means people who have exited homelessness and have entered housing.
Inactive means people who are no longer "active" within the homeless response system. Meaning, they have lost contact with the response system, or have entered an institutional setting for a long period of time.
